Calibration in touch-screen systems

چکیده
Introduction Today, more and more different fields are adopting touch screens or touch panels for applications with human/machinery or human/computer interfaces. Figure 1 is a block diagram of a touch-screen system where the touch screen sensor lies on top of the system’s display, in this case an LCD panel. The touch-screen controller in Figure 1 does not need any calibration by itself. However, products or instrumentation equipped with a touch screen normally require a calibration routine upon power up because it is difficult to perfectly align a touch screen’s coordinates with those of the display underneath it. Calibration is necessary when the coordinates of the area touched on the screen are not sufficiently close to the coordinates on the display. Without proper calibration, software may not respond correctly when a soft button or icon is pressed. This article presents concepts and methods for the calibration of touch-screen systems. Software-programming algorithms and their implementation are also discussed.

متن کاملStudy on Calibration Algorithm of Embedded Touch Screen
This paper firstly analyzes causes and classification of the errors generated between touch screen and liquid crystal display (LCD). For the deficiencies of existing embedded touch screen calibration algorithm, fivepoint calibration algorithm (also known as multi-point mean calibration algorithm) is proposed. Then, the mathematical theoretical basis of the algorithm is introduced. Integer arith...

Technological advances have led to the development of powerful yet portable tablet computers whose touch-screen resolutions now permit the presentation of targets small enough to test the limits of normal visual acuity. Such devices have become ubiquitous in daily life and are moving into the clinical space. However, in order to produce clinically valid tests, it is important to identify the li...
متن کاملDesign Strategies for GUI Items with Touch Screen Based Information Systems: Assessing the Ability of a Touch Screen Overlay as a Selection Device
Touch screens are a popular method of interaction with information systems embedded in public kiosks. Typical information systems are used on desktop PCs and therefore restricted to having a mouse as the selection device used to interact with the system. The purpose of this paper is to investigate how effective a touch screen overlay is in selecting typical graphical user interface (GUI) items ...
